A police report has sparked concerns about violence in Scottish schools, showing that more than 60 pupils were caught smuggling weapons over a period of just three months.
The report showed that there was a record high of 63 weapons offences involving schools between April and June of this year- the biggest this figure has been since changes to offensive weapon recording were introduced in 2021-22.
There were 34 incidents of possession and 29 involving the “use” of weapons during other crimes being committed, the Sunday Mail reports.
11 of these incidents took place in primary schools.
More and more pupils across the country are taking knives, nitrous oxide canisters, razor blades, bottle openers, scissors and corkscrews onto school premises in this rise of 'weapon-carrying cult
