MAGNOLIA, Ark. — (Update: Arkansas State Police have confirmed that the 53-year-old victim has died. The victim has been identified Michael Green.)

Arkansas State Police are investigating after a shooting between a suspect and an officer with the Magnolia Police Department.

According to reports, the officer was patrolling South Fredrick Road on November 9 when he encountered a 53-year-old Magnolia man, who reportedly brandished a firearm and shot at the officer. The officer returned fire, striking the suspect multiple times.

ASP officials will prepare an investigative file to submit to the Columbia County Prosecutor's Office, which will determine whether the use of deadly force was consistent with Arkansas law.
