Tom Daley's Channel 4 knitting show, Game of Wool: Britain's Best Knitter, has come under fire after a group of Shetlanders have accused the programme of "cultural appropriation". Shetland’s Organisation of Knitters (SOK) have stated that the competition, hosted by the Olympic and World Champion diver, misrepresents the island’s ancient knitting traditions.
Game of Wool aired for the first time on Channel 4 on Sunday, November 2, and has been widely praised by critics. However, the SOK said it had been left “shocked and saddened” by the way Fair Isle knitting was presented in episode one of the show.
