HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) - Democratic and Republican leaders in Connecticut on Monday announced the state’s response to the Trump administration’s cuts to health and human services.
Gov. Ned Lamont, Democratic Senate President Martin Looney, and Republican House minority leader Vincent Candelora participated in a news conference.
They announced plans to create an emergency state response fund that will enable the state to supplement millions of dollars in federal cuts toward health and human services that are being made by President Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans.
Many of the cuts were a result of Trump’s so-called “Big Beautiful Bill.”
The Connecticut General Assembly said it planned to vote to approve the creation of the fund during a special session this week.
