A strong cold front continues to move off the coast with the coldest air so far this season moving in behind it.
Afternoon highs will only reach the mid-50s inland to around 60 at the beaches, despite the sunny skies. Gusty northwest winds will make it feel even chillier.
The cold blast builds in Monday night , with temperatures tumbling into the upper 20s to lower 30s by sunrise Tuesday morning. Gusty northwest winds will make it feel even colder, with wind chills bottoming out in the low to mid 20s. Freeze Warnings are in effect all counties, except the Outer Banks and eastern Carteret county from 2am to 8am Tuesday.
We’ll have a slim chance at quick flurry or two late Monday night.
