QUEENS, N.Y. -- Monsignor Farrell’s run for a CHSAA AA state title came to an abrupt halt Sunday night as the Lions suffered a 2-0 loss to Chaminade of Long Island in the semifinals at St. John’s University.

Coach Ed Hynes’ team advanced to the semis by topping Xavier, 3-1, in the CHSAA AA city championship last week, behind Thomas Garritano’s three goals.

The Lions season isn’t over as they will play PSAL top-tier champ Brooklyn Tech Friday in the Mayor’s Cup. The Brooklynites blanked Stuyvesant, 2-0, to win the PSAL 3A city crown.
