An eyewitness has reported being stuck in traffic for 40 minutes following a collision on a busy capital road.

The incident is understood to have taken place on Sir Harry Lauder Road, close to the junction of Milton Road.

Officers are on site dealing with what has been described as a collision impacting lanes in both directions shortly before 6pm.

The eyewitness said: "It's at the Milton Road side due to a road traffic collision both ways. Police are on site, but they haven't stopped cars heading in direction.

"I had got caught out and stuck for 40 mins but I'm now turning back."

Edinburgh Travel News took to X to warn motorists, posting: "Expect heavy traffic and lengthy delays on surrounding routes, especially Milton Road.

Police Scotland have been approached for comment.
