Publications have labeled it everything from an “arctic outbreak” to a “cold blast.” But whatever you call it, the effect is the same: it’s going to be cold this week.
The Weather Channel has dubbed it a “cold outbreak” and noted that it may mean record-breaking cold temperatures in places like Florida.
AccuWeather’s forecast predicts that this major drop in temperatures will affect as many as 100 million people nationwide.
But Bill Gartner, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in State College, says that “it’s nothing unusual” for us in Pennsylvania.
“This is typical,” Gartner said. “It’s almost mid-November. As the quote from [’Game of Thrones’ says]: winter is coming.”
