A 63-year-old man was charged with impaired after police stopped his vehicle at a checkpoint on the South Shore of the Bay of Islands on the weekend.
RNC say the vehicle the man was driving approached the checkpoint around 6:15 Saturday evening, but failed to stop, nearly striking two RNC officers.
The vehicle finally came to a halt and police say the driver, who showed signs of impairment, failed a roadside breath device and was taken to headquarters for further testing.
He was charged with impaired and was released to appear in court at a later date. His licence was suspended and his vehicle was seized.
