KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI — Former Comstock Township Deputy Fire Chief Michael Dyer was sentenced in court today, after previously pleading no contest in a drunken driving case.
Dyer was sentenced to 18 months of probation on Monday, Nov. 10, in Kalamazoo County District Court, WWMT reported .
In September, he pleaded no contest to one count of operating intoxicated causing serious injury after he was arrested for allegations he ran into a child while drunk driving, court records show.
Dyer, 63, did not admit guilt with his plea, but accepts the punishment associated with the charges.
A restitution hearing will be held in the future.
He was driving a 2020 Ford F-450 in a June 22 crash at 12:01 a.m. hitting an 11-year-old girl, causing a fractured bone that required surgery, according to
