A new vision for the historic Carnegie Library on Sixth Avenue in Emporia may be revealed soon.
Don Loux, a recent City Commission candidate and Emporia history buff, will host a public forum Wednesday on the future of the 119-year-old building amid discussions from the Emporia City Commission about the potential of the lot, which has included demolition.
Several key speakers are set to attend the event, each addressing a different aspect of the library’s current state and its potential moving forward.
Trey Cocking, Emporia City Manager, will go over the different ideas the city has discussed and the costs for those projects.
Clint Hibbs of BG Consultants will discuss the library’s current condition. Note: Hibbs may be replaced by an alternate representative from BG Consultants.
