The Marine Corps is celebrating its 250th birthday, marking the anniversary of John Adams drafting a resolution on Nov. 10, 1775, that created the Continental Marines.
Celebrations have been taking place across the country in the weeks leading up to the anniversary.
The U.S. Mint has unveiled a special commemorative coin to honor the rich history of the Marines.
In Manteca, the city and the Manteca Police Department will honor the legacy of courage, discipline, and service to the nation at the council chambers on West Center Street. The oldest and youngest members of the Marines will attend, and all are invited to join the celebration, which includes cake. The event starts at 12:30 p.m. and goes until 1:30 p.m.
