COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Lawmakers from the House and Senate are expected to tackle regulations for intoxicating hemp products as they meet to iron out legislative differences beginning this week.
The key sticking points for a joint conference committee will likely center on regulations on allowable intoxicating THC levels in beverages, and how to license businesses that sell other intoxicating hemp products in the state, legislators said.
State Sen. Steve Huffman, sponsor of Senate Bill 56, doesn’t expect that he doesn’t think there will be any “insurmountable” differences between conferees.
“I think we all have the same goal to get rid of the bad stuff, get rid of the bad actors, and make it safe, particularly for children,” Huffman said.
Huffman’s version of SB 56 was passed unanimously
