Banners honoring "Hometown Heroes" will be going up along State Street in Erie and West Eighth Street in Millcreek next spring.

The banners will honor veterans and serving military members from both communities.

"The third time is the charm," said Joe Benacci, director of the Erie County veterans services department. "We've been trying to get this program off the ground for three years. We're now on the same page and have made this happen."
