ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A firefighter was injured when crews responded to a fire in the Vandeventer neighborhood Monday evening.

According to the St. Louis Fire Department, crews responded to a two-story brick building in the 3900 block of Cook Avenue around 8:45 p.m.

First responders said there was heavy fire throughout the building, with reports of people being trapped.

Overnight, the fire department announced that one firefighter was injured and taken to the hospital, non-urgent, for further evaluation.
