Some 55 roads in an historic Kent village are set for 20mph speed limits and there's just one week left of a public consultation. Kent County Council has published what is called a Traffic Regulation Order which clearly sets out the proposals for each of the roads in East Malling.
The village falls within Tonbridge and Malling District , and is just under six miles from Maidstone . Members of the public are being invited to give their views. The 25-day consultation opened on October 24, and ends on Monday, November 17 at 12noon.
The council said the reason behind installing the restrictions in East Malling was three-fold: to keep pedestrians or those in traffic safe when they're using the road or any other road; to make it easier to use the route, whether for pedestrians or road
