Emphasises need to focus on human capital over infrastructure; flags 2,200 schools with single-digit enrolment
Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Tuesday inaugurated new classrooms at Ri Bhoi Synod College in Umsaitsning, calling for a more rational and unified approach to Meghalaya’s education system. The project, funded under the Chief Minister’s Special Development Fund (CMSDF) 2025–26 with a sanctioned amount of Rs 23.72 lakh, marks the government’s continued investment in improving educational infrastructure in rural areas.
Addressing the gathering, Sangma stressed that the state’s most meaningful investment lies in building human capital rather than physical infrastructure.
“Investment in roads, buildings and infrastructures become meaningless without investing in human capital,”
