President Donald Trump recently said he wants to send every American a $2,000 stimulus check, which would be paid from the revenue produced from tariffs he ramped up in 2025.
Despite President Trump's repeated recent comments saying Americans will get $2,000 stimulus checks from tariff revenue, Congress hasn't seen significant momentum to pass legislation granting the checks, USA TODAY reported.
In 2020, Congress approved a COVID-19 stimulus package under Trump that included $1,200 per person. A second appropriation in December 2020 included $600 per person.
In 2021, Congress approved a COVID-19 relief package under then President Joe Biden that included $1,400 stimulus checks for most Americans.
