A state licensing board suspended the license of a University of Toledo Medical Center doctor amid an investigation that he forced abortion pills on a woman he impregnated.

According to a notice from Ohio’s state medical bard, Dr. Hassan-James Abbas began dating the woman in October, 2024. After she informed him of her pregnancy in December, he ordered abortion pills using his ex-wife’s personal information and gave the woman the pills in crushed form, he admitted.

In the suspension notice, the woman said Dr. Abbas held her down and forced a crushed powder into her mouth. The woman called emergency services, but the suspension notice said he admitted to taking her phone and hanging up the call.
