London’s military giant may cash in on Canada’s investment in new defence hardware.

Ottawa will boost defence spending to a level not seen in about 50 years and armoured vehicles are near the top of the shopping list, which could be good news for General Dynamics Land Systems Canada.

“This is a significant injection of funding. If I was in London, I would be happy to see this,” said David Perry, chief executive of the Canadian Global Affairs Institute.

The federal government, in its recent budget, took the wraps off the largest year-over-year increase in federal defence spending since 1951, he said.

GDLS Canada, located on Oxford Street East, manufactures armoured vehicles, and counts the Canadian military among its customers.
