A weather alert was issued by the National Weather Service on Tuesday at 12:34 p.m. for snow showers until 3:30 p.m. for Eastern Rensselaer and Eastern Columbia.

"Radar and observations indicating occasional moderate to heavy snow showers across parts of the Taconics and Berkshires this afternoon. Visibility will be reduced to one quarter to one half mile at times, with snow accumulating 1 to 3 inches. Use caution if traveling in this area this afternoon," according to the weather service.
