SARASOTA, Fla. ( WWSB ) - Many veterans struggle with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and other mental health issues as a result of their military service.

According to the U.S. Department Of Veterans Affairs, 7% of veterans will suffer from PTSD at some point in their life.

For female veterans, the numbers double, with 13 percent of women struggling with the disorder.

One local organization is stepping up to help by using a holistic approach to healing which includes using therapy animals.
