POST FALLS, Idaho – A newly constructed house was left in ruins after a man allegedly destroyed it with an excavator, according to the Post Falls Police Department.

The department said it received multiple calls at 5:38 a.m. on November 11 “regarding a person destroying a newly constructed home with an excavator.”

The home, which is at the intersection of West Alsea Avenue and West Platte Court, had been recently sold but the owner was not there when it was destroyed.

The Department said it arrived in the area and found a suspect fleeing the scene in a vehicle. Officers conducted a traffic stop and arrested the 29-year-old driver for DUI and felony charges for burglary and malicious injury to property.

The investigation is ongoing.
