Wendy’s will shutter as many as 300 restaurants across the United States, nearly a year after the fast-food chain closed another 240 locations last year.

Interim CEO Ken Cook announced last week on their Q3 earnings call that the company estimates a “mid-single-digit percentage” of Wendy’s approximate 6,000 U.S. locations could close their doors as part of “system optimization efforts,” the chain told the Toronto Sun in a statement.

That “mid-single-digit percentage” (so, say about 5%) amounts to about 250 to 350 restaurants, CBS News reported.

Citing underperformance issues, the closures are part of the company’s “turnaround plan” to boost its profits , cut costs and win back customers with its remaining locations, according to the news network.
