A teenage girl was left terrified after it was reported she heard a man shouting stab threats in a toilet at Sainsbury's.

The student was visiting the supermarket in Newcastle-under-Lyme, in Staffordshire when the incident unfolded.

Sharing details on Facebook, her mother said a man in a neighbouring cubicle in the ladies' loos shouted 'I'm going to f***ing stab you' shortly after 3pm on Monday (November 10).

The girl then fled the toilets and told her parents, who had just arrived, what had happened. The mum claims CCTV was checked and showed a hooded man leaving the toilets, StokeonTrent Live reports.
