PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (WCAX) - Officials from Clinton Community College and SUNY Plattsburgh gathered outside Hawkins Hall for a Veterans Day ceremony.

SUNY also launched its military tuition rate on Tuesday , which will use additional state funding to make college more affordable for active-duty service members of the National Guard and members of the Reserve.

David MacAlpine, an Army veteran and student at Clinton Community College, says he believes it will help veterans looking to continue their education.

“They joined to do a term or two to get a better life, make use of benefits, and then things happened, and that’s the biggest difference. They put their life on hold to go do something when asked and now they’re trying to get their life on track,” MacAlpine said.
