CHICAGO ( NewsNation ) — A federal judge in Chicago plans to grant bond to more than 600 migrants whose arrests during the Chicago-area federal immigration enforcement crackdown , are being challenged by attorneys who say detainees were taken into custody without judicial warrants or probable cause.
U.S. District Judge Jeffrey Cummings ordered the immediate release of 13 people on Wednesday after attorneys representing the Department of Justice agreed that those arrests violated a 2022 consent agreement that bans migrants from being released without warrants or evidence that they represent a flight risk.
