The Government has issued a new update for millions of pensioners who need to give back their Winter Fuel Payment this year as payments are starting to be send out from today .

Payments of up to £300 are being sent out to eligible pensioners - certain people born before September 22, 1959 - throughout November and December. Some over 66s have started receiving the money today, November 12.

Nine million pensioners in England and Wales are expected to get the Winter Fuel Payment from the DWP this winter after a government U-turn was announced on June 11 .

However, pensioners with a taxable income of more than £35,000 will not qualify for the payment, and will have it taken back through the tax system.
