Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has accused the Liberal Party of becoming “more right wing” and “more in denial about climate change” after it opposed net zero targets .
It comes after the conservative faction of the Liberal Party united to oppose net zero emissions targets following record-high energy prices and concerns about renewables.
Since the Albanese government came to power, energy prices have risen by about 40 per cent, according to the opposition.
The Liberal Party has since established guiding principles on energy, including prioritising affordability over emissions reductions.
However, Mr Albanese claimed at a press conference on Thursday that the Liberal Party were climate denialists and were lurching to the right.
