HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — Middletown Public Schools' superintendent was charged with driving under the influence in July, Florida court records show.
Alberto Vázquez Matos, the school district's superintendent, was charged with DUI, a first-degree misdemeanor, on July 29, according to the Hillsborough County Clerk of Courts .
Court records show he pled not guilty on Aug. 5 at the courthouse located in Tampa, Fla.
Scott Roberts Jr., public information officer for Middletown Public Schools, said in reply to a request for a statement that the "district does not comment on individual personnel matters."
FOX61 has also reached out to the Middletown mayor's office but has not yet received a response, as of Wednesday evening.
