Former president John F. Kennedy’s grandson Jack Schlossberg announced on Wednesday that he will run for Congress as a Democrat in 2026.

The 32-year-old said he would seek a seat representing New York’s 12th congressional district, held by Rep. Jerry Nadler. Nadler announced in September that would not be running for re-election.

Schlossberg framed his run as a response, in part, to the economic agenda pushed by Republicans and President Donald Trump. That includes Trump’s so-called “Big Beautiful Bill,” which Schlossberg said sparked a “cost of living crisis” with historic “cuts to social programs working families rely on. Health care, education, childcare.”
