A Pennsylvania man is accused of possessing dozens of child sexual abuse files — including artificially-generated images — the State Attorney General announced on Wednesday, Nov. 12.
Jeffrey L. Engel, 72, of Rockwood, was charged after agents from the Office of Attorney General’s Child Predator Section received a cyber tip that led them to his home last week, according to the release.
Agents executed a search warrant at Engel’s Rockwood home and seized a laptop and tower computer containing child sexual abuse material, investigators said.
Engel is facing numerous felony charges, including 22 counts of artificially-generated child sexual abuse material, a second-degree felony created under Act 125, which took effect in December 2024, according to Attorney General Dave Sunday.
“The state Legislature has given us another tool to combat offenders who possess these vile videos and images, and we fully intend to keep using it,” Attorney General Sunday said in the release. “Each time one of these files is viewed or shared it is another act of abuse and exploitation against children.”
Engel’s preliminary arraignment was recently held, and his bail was set at $100,000 cash, authorities said.
The case will be prosecuted by Senior Deputy Attorney General Angela Raver of the Child Predator Section.
