Civil rights leader Reverend Jesse Jackson has been suddenly hospitalised, his family have announced.
The 84-year-old was admitted into Northwestern Memorial Hospital on Wednesday night. Chicago-based Rainbow PUSH Coalition, which he founded, has issued a statement to update the public on his condition.
"He has been managing this neurodegenerative condition for more than a decade," the organisation said. "He was originally diagnosed with Parkinson's disease; however, last April, his PSP condition was confirmed. The family appreciates all prayers at this time."
