RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. —

A person was shot and killed while trying to buy a gun from a South Carolina teen, according to the Richland County Sheriff's Department.

Authorities arrested 17-year-old Jordan Lemmon and charged him with murder in the case.

They said Lemmon shot and killed the victim while the victim was trying to buy a gun from him on Nearview Avenue on Tuesday.

Lemmon was arrested during a traffic stop in Sumter, police said.

He is charged as an adult with murder, criminal conspiracy, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and possession of a handgun under 18.
