The body of reverend Ernesto Baltazar Hernández Vilchis was found wrapped in black plastic bags, tied to an armchair and dumped in a drainage canal near a major airport

The body of a missing priest has been found wrapped in plastic and tied to a chair in a canal.

Reverend Ernesto Baltazar Hernández Vilchis, 40, vanished without a trace in Tultepec, just north of Mexico City, on October 27. His remains were found in a drainage canal that runs close to Felipe Ángeles International Airport on Wednesday.

Search and rescue teams carried out searches in the area where they found the remains, although they were said to have been in an advanced state of decay . After removing the remains from the canal, forensics later confirmed the remains were those of Rev. Vilchis.
