A search of the River Tees in Stockton was launched on Friday following reports of a body in the river. Cleveland Police , the Coastguard and members of Cleveland Fire Brigade's specialist water rescue team were called to the site and could be seen on the Infinity Bridge.

Witnesses said officers could also been seen searching nearby footpaths in the area. The teams were stood down following a morning of searching and nothing was found.

A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: "Emergency services carried out a search of the River Tees between Massey substation in Thornaby and Tees Barrage this morning, after police received a report from a member of the public that they had sighted a body floating in the river at around 8.20am this morning, Friday 14th November.
