One of Hartlepool's oldest pubs has called last orders and closed its doors to the public last week. The Pot House on the town's historic Headland, has shut up shop after more than a century.

Formerly known as The Harbour of Refuge, The Pot House, which proudly stands overlooking the sea, served its last customers on Saturday, November 8. Built in 1895, the pub is one of the oldest in the town, it was given the moniker due to the dozens of pottery tiles which covered the outside walls of the building and eventually it was officially renamed The Pot House.

Landlady Elaine Gooding took over the running of the pub in 2014 and welcomed a co-owner last year - but has called time on the business. Scores of residents who have spent many happy hours in The Pot House, took to social media to upse
