NEW ORLEANS —

A woman accused of working as an unlicensed nurse at University Medical Center in New Orleans and multiple other health facilities has been arrested.

Shakennya Cooper was arrested by the New Orleans Police Department and is facing multiple charges, including health care facility application fraud, unlawfully prescribing and distributing medication, unauthorized participation at a medical facility, false or fraudulent claim misrepresentation, and professional violations. Court records show Cooper was hired through a company based in Pennsylvania called Wexford Health.

The company's website states that it helps medical facilities with filling health care positions across the country.
