LAPLACE, La. —
A Hammond man has been arrested for a deadly hit-and-run in St. John the Baptist Parish that left a pedestrian dead.
According to the Louisiana State Police, on Friday, Nov. 14, just before 6 a.m., troopers discovered that a Ford F-250 driven by Gregory Cohn Jr., 24, of Hammond, was traveling north on US 61. Advertisement
At the same time, Darius Crump, 59, of Laplace was walking southbound on US 61, in the continuous center turn lane, when he was hit by the truck
Police said the car remained near the scene before fleeing northbound on US 61.
Crump suffered severe injuries and died on the scene.
Troopers quickly located Cohn at his residence, and the truck was located at the mechanic's shop.
Cohn was arrested and is being charged with hit-and-run driving and obstruct
