A Mobile woman is suing the Archdiocese of Mobile for allegedly failing to follow proper procedure when investigating her alleged sexual abuse by Brother Victor “Vic” Bendillo at McGill-Toolen Catholic High School in the 1990s.
Representing Sallie McPhearson Chestang, Montrose attorney Vince Kilborn levied multiple accusations of fraud, deceit with intent to induce injury, intentional infliction of emotional distress and more at south Alabama’s Catholic diocese in connection to an interview Chestang gave to Ginger Koppersmith in November 2023 about the sexual abuse she experienced more than 30 years ago as a high school student. Kilborn filed the complaint in Mobile County Circuit Court Friday morning.
