BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - One person has died after a shooting in southwest Birmingham Sunday afternoon.
According to Birmingham Police, officers were called to the 3500 block of Maple Avenue shortly after 4 p.m. on a report of a person shot.
Officers arrived to the location and found a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue arrived and took the victim to a local hospital where they died from their injuries.
Authorities say a verbal altercation between two people led to shots being fired. At this time, detectives are still working to what led to the argument.
Birmingham Police say one person is in custody and formal charges are forthcoming.
