AUSTIN, Texas — A downtown Austin grocery store is dealing with another crime at one of its locations. The Royal Blue Grocery on 4th and Nueces St. was robbed at gunpoint late Tuesday night, according to the store’s co-owner, who says it’s reigniting his concerns about safety in the area.
Co-owner George Scariano described the terrifying moment the robbery unfolded. “It was 10 minutes before close a couple of nights ago,” he said. “A fellow came in very briskly through our front door with a gun waving,” he said.
Surveillance footage shows a man, dressed in all black with his face covered, entering the store around 11:50 p.m. on Tuesday. “He said, ‘Give me all your money.’ And luckily our employees did,” Scariano recounted.
