EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - The NCAA brought their Division I Great Lakes Region Championships to town with the UE and USI cross country teams hitting the course today at Angel Mounds.
The race marks the last ever competitive event to be held at Angel Mounds, and the first time USI and UE have competed together at the D1 level.
A total of 35 teams from four states competed today.
The event started with the women’s 6K race followed by the men’s 10K race.
Leaders of the Evansville regional sports commission say hosting the races here means a lot for Evansville.
“Think about the economic impact - we have over 550 runners here, we have over 1000 fans coming to a historic angel mound site to be able to see this amazing competition,” Executive Director Brandon McClish says. We’re gonna see so
