DODGEVILLE, Wis. (WKOW) -- Hanna Lee, a Dodgeville, Wis., resident, became the first American to be named the "Young Cheesemonger of the Year" by the Academy of Cheese Thursday.
Lee is currently a seasonal cheesemaking assistant at Uplands Cheese Company. Her career includes stops in Colorado, Washington, and New York before arriving in the Badger state.
Lee said the achievement was "exciting and unexpected." She expressed her excitement about the world's up-and-coming cheesemongers, saying it was, "G reat to meet all the other Young Cheesemongers and show the excitement for cheese that we have in Wisconsin, as well as everything I’ve learned from Cheese State University, and just the incredible talent that we have in the US.
