PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. — A suspect has been taken into custody after Putnam County deputies said a woman was fatally stabbed at a Dollar General on Friday.
Just before 4 p.m., deputies responded to a call about an unresponsive woman with apparent stab wounds at the store in Fruitland. The woman was taken to HCA Florida Putnam Hospital, where officials said she later died.
On Friday night, witnesses had reported that the suspect fled the area on foot, prompting an immediate search. At the time, investigators believed the suspect may have ditched some of his clothing. Authorities also asked residents in the area to stay indoors.
On Saturday, the sheriff's office said the suspect, Lemar Beasley, was taken into custody after deputies found him in a camper on Huntington Shortcut Road.
