CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (KCRG) - Iowa City Regina earned a 31-12 victory over top-seeded Grundy Center in a Class 1A state football semifinals Friday at the UNI-Dome. The Regals will return to the state title game for the first time since 2020.
“They were on point today. We had our chances. We turned them over three times in the first half, and we’re only able to get seven points out of it,” Grundy Center football head coach Travis Zajac said.
“Their line won the line of scrimmage today and made some great play calls. We had a couple penalties, cost us back one of our touchdowns. It’s just unfortunate, but they’re a great team. They have a great chance to win the state championship next weekend,” Grundy Center senior wide receiver and defensive back Eli Wegmann said.
