After 48 days, La Casita Café, a popular Mexican restaurant, has reopened to a packed house.
“I’ll tell you the first day we walked in there, I thought we were going to be shut down for months,” said Annie Villalobos. Fourth-generation owner of La Casita Café, which has been open since 1947.
Like many businesses downtown, La Casita Café was hit hard by the flooding
“We had about five feet of water in our building,” said Villalobos. “Challenges were to basically tear the whole place apart and start from scratch.”
Now they’re back open for business and owner Villalobos says they consider themselves lucky.
Many of their neighbors are still in the rebuilding process.
