Harlingen is building a permanent stage at Lozano Plaza in the city's downtown area.

Restrooms will also be added in the area near the corner of Jackson Avenue and South A Street.

Harlingen City Commissioner Daniel Lopez said they want more people to visit downtown during their market days and live music events.

“It’s been moving around, but now it’s became more permanent here so we said if we're going to just continue having bands here… we figured we'd make that investment here,” Lopez said.

The city is using a $100,000 donation from the Harlingen Market Days Board to pay for the project.

Construction starts on December 2025, and is expected to be done by March 2026.
