WACO, Texas — University pulled out a gritty 35-27 win over Fort Bend Marshall on Friday night, overcoming injuries and a second-half surge from the Buffaloes in a rematch of last season’s bi-district matchup.

Fort Bend Marshall erased a 21-0 deficit in the third quarter behind a steady dose of wide receiver Kaeden Johnson. The quarterback ripped off multiple big runs, then capped the drive with a touchdown to pull the Buffaloes within striking distance. On the next possession, Johnson punched in another score, giving Marshall a 27-21 lead.
