COLLEGE STATION, Texas — It appears Mike Elko will remain at the helm of Texas A&M's football program as CBS Sports and ESPN report contract extension is being finalized.
According to the report, the extension, which could be announced as early as Saturday, would make Elko one of the 10 highest-paid coaches in college football.
The details of the extension weren't immediately available, but CBS Sports reported Elko currently makes about $7 million annually prior to the extension. The report suggests Elko will see a "substantial increase in guaranteed compensation," citing Yahoo Sports .
Since taking over in November 2023, Elko has led the Aggies to a 17-5 overall record and went into Saturday's matchup against the South Carolina Gamecocks with a 9-0 record on the season. The team
